Nathan Margalit is a painter and printmaker. He has held numerous solo exhibits, group shows and museum and touring exhibitions. His work is in public and private collections in the U.S., South Africa, Canada, Australia and Germany.

Margalit was raised in Cape Town, South Africa. He completed his undergraduate work at the University of Cape Town – Michaelis School of Fine Art, thereafter obtaining his MFA at the Maryland Institute College of Art, Baltimore, MD. He returned to teach at the Michaelis School where he was appointed Head of Foundation Studies.

In 1986 he was invited to take up an appointment as visiting artist at Amherst College, MA. Since taking up residency in the U.S. Margalit has continued to exhibit and teach and has participated in numerous presentations and workshops throughout the Northeast at institutions such as the Yale Center for British Art in New Haven and the Wadsworth Atheneum in Hartford.

He was associated for many years with the studio arts programs at Trinity and Mount Holyoke Colleges. Margalit lives and works in Amherst, MA where he has his studio.
